Bet is uncertain
Exchange is by definition uncertain. That is the reason why, buying something, like a car, can really make you anxious. If you buy a car, especially a second-hand one, you have no clue about the quality of the car. Maybe you'll go to the garage after 100 miles, maybe not. Fortunately, we live in a civilized country: if you've been fooled, you should be able to get a refund from the car dealer. If he refuses, you can rely on consumer policy or file a lawsuit against the huckster. And if it's not enough, send the police or the media...
Betting with friends is great, but you face the same problems. How can you make sure you won't be cheated?
That is the reason why you need a referee .
The referee will:
- Get the money, so that at the end of the bet, no-one can say: "I must pay? Oh sorry, I thought it was a joke!", "Money? Eeeeeer... yeah... I have no cash. Tomorrow maybe? " or "Nope, you didn't shake my hand"
- Establish clear rules, so that your friends can't say: "Eeer... You did not win !!! I bet on Manchester before Cantona had been suspended (great roundhouse kick by the way)"
- Fairly share the gain: "so... £300 / 5 winners = £50 each"
The referee in a bet is like the law/judge/police when you buy something. You definetly need him. But where can you find a referee for your bet ?
- The referee can be one of the betters. That is the easiest way, but I guess it would be best to follow his bet...
- You can choose someone who is not taking part in the bet: that is the best solution. But who's selfless enough to do that?
- Or you can login to friendbet.com...
